It was another nice day in grade 2. We finished off our social studies activity. We also spent a little time in the computer lab working on patterns for math. The kids don't seem like they'll have any trouble with this unit. At the end of the day I read a story called Freckle Juice. It is about a boy named Andrew and how he really wants to have freckles. A mean girl in his class hears of this and offers up her family's ''secret recipe'' for 50 cents. Andrew accepts and after he mixes the ketchup, mustard, onion, grape juice, olive oil, mayonnaise, salt and pepper, and drinks it, he feels terrible. He ends up missing a day of school and never does get freckles. His teacher, Miss Kelly, lets him know that he looks handsome without them. Moral of the story is to be happy with who you are and accept what you can't change. The kids had to write 2-3 sentences before drawing and colouring a picture about the story. Have a conversation about this story if you like.

Have a nice evening.
