October 12

Today we did some centres. There was a card game, a memory game, a couple dice games with number for adding and letters for writing words. One centre was snakes and ladders for counting. There was a puzzle centre. The one that they enjoyed a lot was a geometrical shape that they had to place magnetic forms over top of in order to cover.
I am learning how to better use my smartboard tomorrow and so Mme. Bell will be here in my place. I have left some detailed plans for her and all should be swell. I had a late hockey game last night and my body has paid the price all day! I am off to cook supper and then to bribe my  boys to go to bed super early!!! I will blog again on Monday.
Here are some pics of your offspring in action:

October 10

I had a nice loong weekend. I hope you did too. I spent most of it at the hockey rink but I got the chance to do some bike riding in the river valley and to hang out with my boys.
Today was a nice day. We spent some time this morning with Mrs. Weatherby's class. We did some math activities together. Power of Ten is a math activity that allows kids the chance to build their mental math abilities. We will do lots of this throughout the year. Your kids will be brilliant at math!
We did have library today too. Mrs. Lyall read a book called Dogzilla. The kids loved it! Many kids still  have books out and it would be appreciated if they could be returned tomorrow. We are going to keep the library books in our desk at school from now on. This way, kids have them to read during DEAR and the backpacks are a little lighter.
The end of the day was spent in Mrs. Weatherby's room again. The 2P students read to the 2W students and visa versa! I think the kids enjoyed the opportunity to share their skills!
I will be starting the At-Home Reading tomorrow. I will send home an English and a French book. The kids should try to read them at least 3 times over the next 3 nights (sometimes longer if over the weekend). When reading with your child, please make sure they read slowly, finger track where they are, and answer questions you might ask them to verify comprehension.
I asked that the students complete the sentences about the animals fall picnic. Many still haven't and so you should find it in their agenda. If you could see that they complete the 3-4 sentences for tomorrow, that would be nice.

Lastly, the kids are jacked about the snow. Some students didn't have proper apparel for the weather. Please ensure they have all the right stuff to be outside for 30 minutes over the lunch recess.

Have a nice night!
