We did work on patterns and on some other math concepts this morning. We did: one more than / less than and ten more than / less than. Most grasped the concept pretty easily. Others had a bit of difficulty. I showed them to use the number line in class and count one up/down or ten up/down. I also showed them, for skip counting by ten, to look for the next number on the line with a same number. That helped most. If you'd like to know how your child is doing, just give them a number and say : what is the number that is ten more than this one?
We tried to finish off our art project from last week. A ''Where's Waldo'' kind of a deal. It was fun! I will display them and then send them home later. This would be one of the things I would add to a portfolio. If you haven't sent in the Hilroy Studio Scrapbook, please do so. This way I can add as the year progresses.
Friday was a blast. A lot of walking ... for the kids I mean! We checked out the ''Walk of Generations'' placards and talked about how our community has changed. We got to see a couple short films about the grain elevators and how they function. We got to look around the grain elevator a bit too. The kids really just wanted to explore all over but the elderly gentleman who was giving us the tour wasn't into that! Here are some pics:
