The last day of April in the year 2013!

And what a cold day! Thank the weather maker for the sun! Today was a day for learning to recognize shapes in everyday objects, for getting better at reading temperature that is below zero, for adding to our It's (insert student's name here)! presentation, for practicing our sound of the week, for working our fine motor skills by cutting little objects with scissors, for all kinds of things.

Have your child draw  , indicating where zero, minus 10, minus 20 would be if the thermometer read, from the top of the red, minus 5 degrees Celsius. Have them make another, label 20, 10, 0, -10, and -20 degrees Celsius and then colour in red to indicate minus 14. They can do this in the agenda. We have worked on this in class for a bit now and it shouldn't cause difficulty. Please explain how to read temperature below zero if they have difficulty.

On Friday, we are going to boil the water out of maple syrup and then roll it on a stick and eat it! That is all because of Hot and Cold temperature, Grade 2 science!

Have a nice evening.
